Tree Planting in Flass Vale

The sun shone on Flass Vale, just a few hundred yards from Waddington Street, as members and friends of our church gathered for the first of our Anniversary Weekend activities.

Our Synod Moderator, the Revd David Herbert, wielded his spade to plant the third of the rowan trees that are our contribution to the late Queen’s Canopy Platinum Jubilee Campaign, and our Minister, the Revd Marcus Hargis, led a short act of worship to dedicate the planting.

One of the trees is dedicated to the memory of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, one celebrates the 150th anniversary of our Church, and the third celebrates  the 50th anniversary of the United Reformed Church.

After a walk in the sunshine back to Waddington Street, we gathered for coffee and cake and conversation.

The weekend celebrations will continue with our Harvest Festival Service on Sunday, which will be followed by a buffet lunch to which all members and friends are invited.
