Together members and friends celebrated harvest thanksgiving, 50 years of the United Reformed Church, and 150 years of our church’s life at Waddington Street in a joyful service led by our minister, the Revd Marcus Hargis. Through prayer and reflection we remembered the faithful witness of church members no longer with us, and commended one another to God’s loving care as we turned our thoughts to the years that lie ahead.
Here may faith and love increase,
flowing forth in joy and peace
from the Father, Spirit, Son,
undivided Three-in-One:
his the glory all our days
in this house of prayer and praise!

After a group photo around the laden communion table everyone moved to the church hall, where a splendid warm buffet lunch was served, and our anniversary cake cut and distributed. Donations were made to the work of Christian Aid, while in the vestibule our harvest wheelbarrow was overflowing with tins headed for the Food Bank.
